Halloween

Thought I would post a picture of my Halloween costume. I won crowd favorite at our work costume contest. It was a fun costume to make and to wear.

Parents

A friend of mine from work lost his mom today. It was a completely unexpected death and as put it, "20 years soon."

Seeing his tragedy made me think that we all need to tell our parents that we love them every chance we get. Never let a phone call end without saying it, call them up to tell them or even just write them a nice note occasionally on their Facebook pages.

Brad Paisley

Friday night we went with some friends to the Brad Paisley concert. It's a show that we have always wanted to go to, but never really found the time to go. It was amazing. If any of you have the chance to see him in the future, DO IT!!

Darius Rucker (Hootie from Hootie and the Blowfish) was his opening act and he was great.

At one point, Brad Paisley came back to sing to all of the people in the cheap seats. It was fun to see him that close.

Boy oh Boy!

Since we found out we were having a baby, people have asked me what I thought it was. I never really had a feeling one way or the other. This morning we went in for our 20 week ultrasound and found out that he's a little he. It was really fun to find out and so much fun to see that there is an actual baby in there with little hands and little feet.

Here is his face. Shawn said that he already looks just like him.

Yep he's a boy

An arm with little fingers

His legs. I think he is going to be tall because his legs were pretty far up in my stomach.

February 2, 2011

....is the due date of our first baby. I am 13 weeks along and we are both really excited.

We went and heard the heartbeat today. It was a really cool experience. It kind of gives validation that there is actually something in there and that we aren't crazy. Shawn was surprised how fast the heartbeat was.

So far, the pregnancy has been good. I haven't been very sick aside from the occasional nausea. I am hungry all the time, but very few things actually sound good. I went for a while when Subway sandwiches were the only thing that sounded good and then for a while it was french fries and celery. It's kind of weird how it changes day to day.

The photo at the top is how we told our family. Shawn walked into his parents house wearing his shirt and I sent this picture to my family members. It was pretty fun to see their surprise!

Fun with my sister

My sister, brother-in-law and their three kids were in town this last weekend. Jason was interviewing for jobs in Salt Lake!! Hopefully they will move this way :)

Friday night we went to P.F. Chang's. It's Stephanie's favorite place and we go there every time she comes to town. Then we went swimming a their hotel. It was so fun to swim with the neice and nephews. Sadly, I didn't get any photos of it.

Saturday we went to the Thanksgiving Point Petting Zoo. It was really funny to see how excited the kids got when they saw the animals. Logan's 2 and he would run so fast to the animals. Carson and Abby (8 and 6) had tons of fun feeding the animals. (Sorry there are so many, I am posting all of our photos so that my sister can pull them down for her scrapbook.)

Saturday night we went to Chuck-E-Cheese's (Shawn's Choice). The highlight of the night for me was when I used like 25 tokens to try to hit the 50 tickets hole on this one game. I decided to give up, but shawn wanted to try once. He made me blow on the token for good luck and he put it in and hit the 50 tickets hole on the first time! It was hilarious.

That night Stephanie and I went to scrapbook club and surprised the group who didn't know that she was in town. Click here to see what we worked on.

26

I had a really fun birthday this weekend. Shawn filled the day with fun stuff and by the time the day was over, I was so exhausted. We had a blast though.

We went to Red Lobster for lunch. It is my favorite restaurant and I usually only go twice a year, once for my birthday and once for our anniversary. It was yummy.

After Red Lobster, Shawn took me bowling. I beat him by 20 points on our first game, but on the second game he came back and beat me by 1 point. I haven't been bowling in years and it was fun to do it again.

We planned on going to a movie after bowling, but we still had 2 hours before it was supposed to start. So we decided to go play a round of mini-golf at Trafalga. They have really fun blacklight mini-golf. Had a blast and I beat Shawn bad. :)

After mini-golf we went to the movies and saw Date Night. It was ok. If you haven't seen it, wait to rent it.

Then we went to Shawn's parent's house where we had Cold Stone ice cream cake that Shawn got for me. It was A-MAZ-ING. It was cake batter flavored ice cream with Red Velvet cake. YUMMY!

We were sitting outside after we had cake and we decided to play a little basketball with Shawn's parents. It was so fun.

Redhead

I got my hair done tonight. I decided I wanted a change, so I dyed it red and got blonde highlights. It's way different and fun. I love it.

Our Weekend

Shawn and I had a pretty busy weekend. I worked in the yard Saturday for most of the day. We started the morning burning our pile of weeds that I have collected from the yard in the past several weeks.

When we finished that, I kept working in the yard while Shawn went to the BYU open practice with his friend John. He came home so excited for the team next year. According to Shawn, we are going to "ROCK IT" next year. :)

Sunday we went to his parents for lunch and then came home and took a name. I worked on some projects yesterday afternoon. Click here to see my projects.

Last night Shawn started having a stomachache. I had been asleep for about an hour when i heard him getting up over and over again. He spent most of the night throwing up. Neither one of us got much sleep. He felt really terrible when I left for work this morning but finally got some sleep. He missed work and school today which he was pretty upset about, but hopefully he will be back to normal tomorrow.

Shawn's upcoming jobs

Shawn started his new field placement today for school. He will be doing training this week for it and then will start full-time there in May (after his malpractice insurance kicks in). He is working at the Utah State Hospital in Provo and is very excited to be there.

He will be working there until August when he will start his second-year field placement with the VA Hospital in Salt Lake. That field placement will last through next April when he will graduate. He was very excited to be placed in the homeless outreach program with the VA. Hopefully it will be a meaningful placement for him and for those he will be helping.

I have to say how proud of him I am. He is working so hard at school and is really doing something he is passionate about.

My new blog!

If you didn't already know, I have a new blog. It is one that I am doing for work on crafts. I am really having fun with it.

I post craft ideas that anyone can do. If any of you have projects you are working on you can send them to me and I will post them too (with your name of course)! I also get to have one published in the paper a month. It is in the little wrap-around section on the front page on the third Sunday of every month.

Check it out: beingcraftyutah.blogspot.com

Along with that, I am going to try to blog on here more often. I have really become a slacker. :)

VA Interview

Shawn has an interview today at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake for his second year field placement for school. If he gets it, he will be working there starting in September and will get his hours so that he can graduate in April. Everyone think happy thoughts for him!

Viva Las Vegas

A few weeks ago, I told Shawn that I needed a day off work and wanted to do something fun, so we decided to go to Vegas for a weekend. We left Thursday night and went to St. George to see Shawn's sister Lori and her family. On Friday we drove to Vegas.

We went on Friday night to a show at the Stratosphere called "American Superstars." They had 5 impersonators: Elvis, Carrie Underwood, Brittney Spears, Tim McGraw and Michael Jackson. It was way fun!

Shawn with The King of Rock and Roll

 Stacy with Elvis

Shawn with his favorite Vegas Showgirls. Look how red his face is.

Shawn with Carrie Underwood look-alike. (although I don't think she looked that much like her)

  Stacy with Tim McGraw impersonator

We stayed at the Golden Nugget and they have a swimming pool called "The Tank." In the middle of the pool, they had an aquarium with sharks swimming around. They had a three-story slide that came down and went through the aquarium. As you were going down the slide, you could see the sharks swimming around you. It was pretty awesome.

See the slide that goes through there?

On Saturday we went to the BYU vs. UNLV game and I don't want to talk about it. We got spanked!

After the game we went to the King's Ransom Museum. There was tons of Elvis' belongings that he had for several years before his death.

Elvis' 1968 Lincoln Continental. It was the last car he bought before he died.

This was Elvis' famous red velvet bedspread that his girlfriend had made for his bedroom at Graceland.
